This packet contains at least 100 Seeds of Reseda luteola, Weld.
Graham's thoughts on Weld germination: Weld prefers to be planted VERY close to the top of the soil, if buried too deeply, germination may not happen or may take a longer time if it happens at all. Weld germinates well when the seed is sprinkled on top of the soil, then a dusting of soil is added on top of the seeds. Water thoroughly at planting. Then, keep the soil moist but not drenched. Between planting and germination, I water my weld soil daily or multiple times a day, shallowly, to make sure that the seed does not dry out. You can expect to see germination (tiny, tiny leaves) within 7-10 days.
Weld is one of the oldest cultivated plants used to dye colors in the yellow spectrum. This easy-to-grow annual contains a host of pigments that can be bonded to fabric with the help of mordants, molecules that fix the color onto cloth.
